NYS Office of Mental Health Breaks Ground on Renovations and Expansions at Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center

Last Month, Urbahn Principal Natale Barranco and Project Manager Joe Zapulla attended the groundbreaking ceremony in West Seneca. WNYCPC serves youth and families in the 19 county Western New York region. Construction, which is anticipated to last 24 to 28 months, will preserve the current capacity of 46 beds, while updating many features to ensure patient and staff safety.

Urbahn is responsible for the design of major additions and renovation of the facility that serves the inpatient pediatric psychiatric needs of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming Counties. The project includes complete replacement of the residential program to align with the current operational philosophy. It includes multiple wings, housing 46 client beds broken down into smaller units to accommodate children, adolescents and the Intensive Treatment Unit. The additions also include the Treatment Team space and a new welcoming lobby.
